The only thing on my shopping list was oatmeal, and I had enough money in my pocket to buy a bulk quantity, I thought. So I went into the Ukiah Coop and asked if they could sell me a 40 pound bag. No it comes in a 50 # sack. Ok fine I want one - after a while the nice fellow in a green apron wheeled it out from the back. It was about $55 after taking my quarterly member discount. (Once per quarter, members get a steep discount.) A huge bag it was, because rolled oats are not very dense. That many already-rolled oats might get stale before one family could use them all, in this hot climate, but I brought them home and put them in the freezer.
