The opening scene of this weeks Hannibal was one of the most gruesome things Ive seen on television. I know I throw that particular phrase around a lot in re: this show, but Im not exaggerating. Last season, during one of his murders, Hannibal wore a transparent plastic overcoat--think Patrick Bateman in the Hip to be Square scene from American Psycho. Hannibal wore it for half this episode. I think it would be amusing to wear something like that to work, just for the reaction. I dont think it would be a breach of dress code; well, no more so than the Pro-Wings some of my coworkers wear. I love Gillian Anderson, but in Hannibal, shes low-key to a bizarre extent. Whenever she shows up, we instinctively begin mumbling under our breath in imitation. On the plus side, Laurence Fishburne as Jack is much improved this season. Hes more subtle and restrained; I dont think hes needlessly shouted once, and he was part of a spectacular fight scene last week. Oh, and Hannibal made a delicious looking meal out of some guys leg. I hope they eventually produce a cookbook...with proper ingredients, of course!
