The openings for officers within the society are as follows: CHAIR/CO-CHAIR The Chair has overall responsibility for managing the affairs of the society. Other responsibilities might include: Calling and conducting meetings Ensuring activities agreed at meetings are actioned. Keeping in contact with all committee members. Ensuring membership services are maintained. SECRETARY The Secretary is responsible for: The day-to-day running of the society and acts as the ‘general manager’. Being the link between the Committee, the members, OUSA Office, the Society Committee Representative and the Chair of the Societies Committee Submitting annual reports to OUSA on the status of the Society Other normal duties include: Receiving correspondence from all sources. Ensuring onward transmission as appropriate. Keeping records, past and current. Organising meetings and acting as Minutes Secretary Keeping informed about regulations re database information, insurance and travel regulations. Being aware of accessibility matters. TREASURER The Treasurer’s responsibilities include: Control of assets Operation of bank accounts Liaison with the OUSA VP Administration c/o OUSA Office Financial planning & reporting Arranging the annual audit Submitting accounts annually to AGM and OUSA Plus MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY SOCIETIES COMMITTEE REPRESENTATIVE EDITOR Whilst we are still a reasonably small society, dual roles can be taken on by an individual, for instance; Treasurer PLUS Membership Secretary Chair PLUS Society Representative, Secretary PLUS editor Or a mix of the two.
