The original caption on the back of this Oregonian photo, dated March 15, 1968, reads: Off to Officers Candidate School in Newport, R.I. Thursday night was Tom Lawson McCall Jr., son of Governor and Mrs. Tom McCall. McCall, 24, is University of Oregon graduate. In college he maintained a 3.69 GPA and was a member of Phi Delta Gamma and Phi Beta Kappa. He will attend OCS for 18 weeks after which he will become an ensign. He is presently seaman apprentice in Naval Reserve.
