The other day, Charlie and I drove into town to get something we needed. As we passed the old Green Front Furniture buildings, he suddenly swung into a parking lot and turned around. Weve got time. Im going to take you to a place youve been wanting to go to for some time. I glanced around at the buildings. Charleys Waterfront Cafe? I took a guess. Charlie laughed. Nope. Were not that rich. Guess again. Knowing that he and I have different ideas of fun at times, I glanced at the big Green Front Furniture buildings. Green Front? I asked tentatively. No, baby. He swung onto the road and pointed straight ahead. There. Motleys Emporium! I squealed. For those of you who have never been able to make the trip to Farmville, VA, Id like to encourage you to visit Motleys Emporium if you do. Its a great place filled to the bursting point with old and new. You can find antique books, tools, dishes, and furniture. They also have piles of old doorknobs and brass fittings for those renovating antique houses. They also have newer items as well. I could stay inside the shop for hours and find a TON of stuff I want/need. On this particular day, Charlie discovered a unit that has a coffee pot on the bottom and a 1 gallon pot on top. Very cool. I found volume one of The Historians History of the United States of America. Also very cool. Yes, Im grateful I have a husband who does spontaneous dates. :)
