The other day I had the privilege of telling someone about my mother. My mother was a foster parent for over 2 decades, and adopted 9 kids, one of them including me. Growing up, we always had different kids in the house, and would sometimes wake up to a new brother or sister that would stay with us for a day or 2, sometimes for a year or longer. This experience impacted me greatly, and for the positive. I can only be forever in awe and admiration at the extraordinary sacrifices her and my dad made, and can only be sorry it took me so long to realize it. She did this with not a lot of recognition, only because her heart was in a place where most others dont go. I love her, I am grateful for her, and the example she set in caring for others. Thank you, Mom. You are a hero, not just to me, but for many many others.
