The other day I saw a woman in Allen Park yelling at a guy for throwing his soda can into the trash instead of the recycling bin. Arent you concerned about the environment? she asked. He just looked at her and said, Lady, I just downed a bacon double cheeseburger with a Pepsi, and Im about to smoke another cigarette. Im obviously not even concerned about my own health, what makes you think I give a %^&* about the environment? We can all learn a very important lesson from her outburst and from his honest reply: know your audience! She was furious with him, screaming, the recycling bin is RIGHT THERE! What kind of a .. [censored] .. are you? You get the picture. Have you ever found yourself in her shoes? Pushing your beliefs and agenda on other people? Telling others what to eat, how to raise their child, who to vote for, what to think, which leash to use on their dog, or how to get to heaven? Calm down! If changing the world is your fight, it will exhaust you. But if changing the world is simply your way of being, it will be effortless. Only then will people actually want to hear what you have to say, instead of un-friending you on FB or walking away. As John Wesley suggested, simply Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as you can. Its that easy. Dont let other peoples behavior disturb your inner peace. Take a deep breath and bow to all beings. Yes, ALL beings.
