The other day I was awaiting one of my classmates at Campus Shadow. Three girls from FBS were bargaining with a guava vendor. While choosing the best one, they all were taking pieces of guava just to know how it tasted. They seemed too indifferent to guess the feeling of the vendor. I noticed him to be angry or something else. His face looked pale, or bored of their treat. It appeared, the vendors like him are the victims of such attitude. His pale face grieved that it has been a custom of taking some pieces by the customers before they buy something. By the way, after they’d left I asked the vendor, we call them Mama, about the custom they are habituated. His reply introduced me to a secret. He told there is no loss of his business with this tradition. This small business is his only mean of livelihood. They can easily manage such loss of some pieces of guava. He informed that the three girls took at least 5 pieces and I weighed it keeping 7 pieces less. Every vendor does this as the nut sellers. In no time a joke peeped in my mind about the stupidity of the girls. A girl & An orange seller: The girl: Mama, what’s the price of one dozen of orange? The vendor: Tk120. The girl: Oh, it’s too much! Any less? The seller: Okay, take 9 pieces and give Tk 90. The girl: Thank you mama, I’m so happy! We are roaming around a cycle of deception. This lies in every phase beyond our knowledge. Yes, we’re in the chain of deception!
