The other day, Norm Olsen suggested I try a variation on my Institute for Higher Critical Studies program, inviting any Bible Geek listener to spend an hour on the phone with me, for a fee. As it happens, someone recently asked if she could chat with me for an hour every other week about a course she is taking at Union Seminary, and she suggested she compensate me a hundred bucks a throw. From her end, it was a generous offer. But from my end, if I were to charge this amount, wouldnt it seem excessive? Maybe so, but I look at it this way: I hate the telephone, as some of you know. And I am busy all day, writing, editing, etc., so my time is money. Theres only so much time I can devote to conversations, so its okay if only a few (if any!) would be interested in the proposed arrangement, but let me know if you are.
