The other day Rhyan, who just turned five, was trying to whine her way into getting something she felt she was entitled to without working for it. I tell her, no. She goes on to inform me with her hands on her hips in true sass box form that I am NOT going to be her friend anymore. I say, well, ya know what kiddo? Im not supposed to be your friend. Im supposed to be your Mother. The answer is NO! Not until you work at it She immediately burst into tears and turns her face inside out, little lip quivering and softly asks, Youre really wont ever be my friend? .................then I start back peddling like friggin Lance Armstrong. I think I made it okay by hugging her tight and telling her that I will ALWAYS be her friend. But I will ALWAYS be her mother first. Parenting is H-A-R-D!!!!!
