The other day, on my way home from a meeting, I stopped at the little coffee van that pops up on West Swan Rd most days. The light rain was probably deterring other patrons as I was the only one there and as I ordered my flat white from the delightful young gentleman, I spotted two very neglected rose bushes nearby that still had a few deep red rosebuds amongst the deadheads. After I obliquely asked the young mans permission to pick them, and borrowed some scissors, I strolled the few metres in the rain to the garden. Next thing I know there is this young gentleman beside me asking about roses (as if Id know), holding an umbrella over me. Chivalry is not dead! And whosever son he is....well, you have done a wonderful job raising him to be a gentleman. :-)
