The other evening I watched this documentary called America: Imagine The World Without Her. Was very disappointed and upset in how the director Dinesh DSouza depicted the Native Americans history as: American Indians exhibited this conquest ethic among themselves, and that most of what American Indian depopulation occurred during European colonization resulted from the accidental transmission of plagues that had earlier devastated Europe, not an intent to wipe out a people. It says modern American Indians have little interest in returning to their hunter-gatherer past. Consider the taking of the land from the Native Americans. That certainly constituted conquest by the Spanish, the Portuguese and the British, going all the way back to the Columbus landing in 1492. But most Native American tribes that were occupying land had themselves gotten that land by taking it from some other tribe. In other words, the Native Americans, no less than the Europeans, subscribed to the conquest ethic. Another manipulated dream for power, greed, and control by beings who fled from their own inherited Life Way. If only the author and director can see that his view and opinions is ideal to the ethic conquest of his own aboriginal Life Way, but I guess Americans have gone to far to truly understand who they are and where theyve come from!
