The other night around 1:30 AM, Rex started making lonely noises - TopicsExpress

The other night around 1:30 AM, Rex started making lonely noises downstairs. These noises are different than the noises he makes when hes trying to get up, these noises sound very much like a person who is making lonely noises. So I went downstairs to check on him and he seemed fine but was definitely glad I came downstairs. I had a couple choices. I could just sit with him for a bit then go back upstairs, or I could sleep downstairs on the couch so he can be near me, or I could carry him upstairs. The potential problems with carrying him upstairs are my back, my face, and any other part of me that might be damaged by falling while Im carrying him, and that he has nowhere to go if he needs to pee or poop since he cant get off the bed, much less down the stairs, on his own. But he had done his business earlier, I was relatively confident he wouldnt need to go again, and it seemed like he was really lonely, which is not normal for him. Usually he just sleeps through the night. So I picked him up and carried him up the stairs, and lay him down on the bed with his head on a pillow. He didnt move. The second I put him down, he was comfortable and happy. I got into bed, and we went to sleep. Rex didnt move or make a sound, he just fell asleep with his head next to my head. These pictures are what it looked like when I had to get up for work. After I got dressed, I had to pick him up off the bed and carry him back downstairs, and that was much more treacherous than carrying him up. Going down, I couldnt see the steps under my feet, and Rex was a 70-lb vision obstruction. I just went slowly and made it to the bottom without incident. Rex had some food and water, and I went to work.
