The overriding message I am getting from all these Irish Water protest videos is, the contempt and disdain that is dished out by the Gardaí to the citizens of this country. Yes, they have a job to do. Yes, the water meter lads have a job to do. But the citizens of this country also have a job to do and that is to inhibit the placement of another unwanted financial burden on the already stooped shoulders of the population. Regardless of financial circumstances or means, every single household has to pay the same rate. It is being implemented by a company created to deliver to our government, but the dubiousness of this companys legal tenure and powers are so submerged in innuendo and suspicion that the people are also afraid. Why our PPS Numbers? For a glass of water or a shower? What we have been seeing in these videos is not a police force out to avert instances of public affray. What we are seeing is a police force acting as a security company, singularly protecting one side but systematically arresting people from outside their own homes who are protesting peacefully. This will leave terrible discord between the Police and The Citizen.
