The overwhelming response of the biker community to four year old JJ Mattison [of Fort Ann] and his tragic accident where he lost both feet to a lawnmower accident is worthy of the highest praise. The biker community in our area immediately swung into action with a short notice Ride 4 JJ run [on August 9th] where some 384 bikes, over 40 cars and trucks and some 600 people participated and who later gathered at the Boars Nest for additional fundraising efforts and reportedly raised $36,000. A special fund has also been set up for JJ to assist in both present and further required medical interventions at the Glens Falls National Bank. JJs short heart felt thank you is a real heart-warmer. He is presently in a specialized pediatric medical facility in Westchester with his parents and will return to his home in Fort Ann after pediatric specialists and surgeons assist in his recovery and eventual prosthetic interventions.
