The owner of this mare tells me her osteopath says that the mare just travels that way. Apparently its mother moves the same way and is still in the show ring. I feel this says more about the the QH show scene than the owner, who had obviously investigated this movement. I believe the lady genuinely has her mares best interest at heart - but owners go to the experts - dont we? And we follow the expert advice we are given. Its entirely possible this mares bloodline has been trained this way for generations, and is SELECTED for this movement. *sigh* ... I worry that AQHA is becoming the new TWH - and it doesnt make me at all proud :( If I saw one of the horses Id bred (to move according to natural function) being made/trained to move this way, I would weep for shame. Any other insights? Does anyone think Im misguided in feeling this way? How can this movement be rewarded by the Show world - doesnt it call ALL achievements awarded by such an Association into question? I am reminded here of the navicular epidemic brought on by selection for small feet - which once took the judges fancy.
