The owners of the Royal Eye Infirmary have decided not to consult - TopicsExpress

The owners of the Royal Eye Infirmary have decided not to consult local people about their plans but are pushing to over-turn their planning permission refusal by appealing to the Governments Planning Inspector. Thats the wrong decision and Im disappointed the developer has not learned the lessons from their failure to consult local residents. I support decent, well-managed and purpose-built student accommodation where it is in the right location (the city centre, North Cross roundabout and on campus being good locations). The around around the Eye Infirmary is not the right location for a 164 student bedroom block. Plymouths Planning Committee decided the lack of consultation by the developer was not ideal. They also noted that the impact on the local community of allowing this scheme to go ahead would be detrimental and refused planning permission. Since that decision only a few months ago nothing has changed. It was a sound decision then and it remains so today. Our job now is to encourage as many submissions as possible to the Government Planning Inspector so that this block does not get the go-ahead. Labour will continue to fight this inappropriate development. lukepollard.org/reiappeal
