The pair of Great-horned Owls admitted in mid-November from a trapping incidents were released tonight... together and back into their home territory. We contacted the trappers to alert them the owls were being released...as trapping season continues through spring. A video taken of one of the owls during a treatment on December 4th on this page and is available for viewing. We did another exam on both owls. They passed with flying colors! It is time for Great-horned Owl courtship and breeding here in Wisconsin. This pair was housed together and ate TONS while there were in our care. Our staff even had special names for them in terms of the amount of food they consumed daily. They are in prime condition and even had some romance going on even while they were our guests. Go forth beautiful owls and good luck with your new family. We hope to have a video of the releases tomorrow to share with you.
