The parade field on the grounds of the National Infantry Museum - TopicsExpress

The parade field on the grounds of the National Infantry Museum will be rededicated and named for the late Sen. Daniel K. Inouye, Medal of Honor recipient, at 9 a.m. Sept. 12. The field is the site of Infantry basic training graduations, which take place almost every Friday morning. A World War II veteran, Inouye enlisted shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor and served with the 442nd Infantry Regimental Combat Team. He was awarded a Distinguished Service Cross for his actions in combat near San Terenzo, Italy, in April 1945. He lost his arm as a result of injuries he suffered during the battle.
