The parapet of the cocker beck bridge which divides Northgate - TopicsExpress

The parapet of the cocker beck bridge which divides Northgate from High Northgate can be seen in the left foreground in this circa 1910 picture. The turreted structure beyond, Westbrook Hall was erected in 1873. Often described as bizarre the the building had at least 25 gargoyles and carved around the tower the words Glory to God in the highest. Peace on earth, good will to all men. Westbrook Hall was demolished in 1951 as part of a road widening scheme.
