The passing of a beloved instructor in Germany: We are all - TopicsExpress

The passing of a beloved instructor in Germany: We are all saddened at todays passing of Angi von Kanel. One of the most beloved instructors in Germany, Angi was known for her exceptionally caring heart and joy for living. Last December, Angi (a single mom with two children, ages 3 and 5) was planning a big charity event for children with cancer. Two weeks later she herself was diagnosed with brain cancer. Our community in Germany came together for Angi in many ways, including a jam packed Zumba fundraising event to help support her and her family. Aware that her condition was terminal, Angis attitude and courage were impressive beyond measure. Her mother and her ZIN community helped Angi in many ways. Especially loving and consistent was the support for Angi that came from her dear friend, fellow instructor Elena Gutnyk who was at her side every day. The Zumba Home Office was privileged to present Angi with the 2014 Inspiration Award at the Zumba Instructor Academy in Germany at FIBO - seen in the below photo with her dear friend Elena as Beto presented her with the Inspiration Award. Knowing of Angis deep love for Zumba Fitness and the joy it had brought into her life, he also took off his iconic red Zumba vest, signed a personal message and presented it to her. (Forgive me if this sounds overly personal, but I feel compelled to share that Angis love of Zumba ran so deep, backstage at FIBO she whispered to me that she was going to fold Betos vest and place it in her coffin as a symbol of one of the things that brought joy to her life) Angi brought great love and happiness to her family, friends and class participants. Please keep Angi, her children, her mother and all who knew and loved her in your thoughts. Angi von Kanel Oct 7, 1985 - July 28, 2014 RIP
