The past 2 days, we buried Waylons maternal Paw Paw Sunday, then Maw Maw Monday. In those two days, I saw MOST mothers comforting the crying grandchildren of both. I saw one mother too pilled up, and yesterday, drinking at the funeral hime, to let he parents go respectfully, without trying to start a fight with me, and upsetting her own extremely sensitive 7 year old. I was honored to read Psalms 23 at Maw Maws funeral. And, as you might guess, THAT was met afterwards, with disrespect, from of all people, Waylons mother. I also saw pastor, Vince Guidry, stand firm on his refusal to officiate a funeral with vulgarity in a song that was originally placed on the play list. The two daughters that had any input in it, agreed with him. Vince, you are the perfect pastor for both funerals. Whether the words will sink in with some, they couldnt be unheard. Most importantly, I watched a woman successfully put herself in the position of having to go through the courts to have any contact at all with her baby. However, her family will ALWAYS be welcomed to spend time with Waylon. Theyve done nothing negative to, or in front of my baby. They want to love him, and he will not be denied that. It was a bitter-sweet two days. But, I really learned a lot, by watching how certain people react to similar situations. Also good to see Waylons aunt Christie and her family. Great folks.
