The past few days presented more Ups than Downs. An UPS/DOWNS synopsis follows: DOWNS : struggling to eat and drink; vomiting everything that is consumed, thereby losing hydration and nutrition. Still in Isolation Ward. - The main reason for her still being in hospital is not related to the major surgery she had but due to the virus, the loss of weight and her feeding problem. UPS : Fever normal since Sunday - diarrhea stopped - Water around the Heart reduced from 9mm on Monday to 3mm this morning - Water around the Lungs reduced to negligible level therefore no drainage needed - Oxygen levels are at 100% - all drips, antibiotics, painkillers, tubes/wires have been removed - she is free to move around within the isolation room. - she started walking around yesterday afternoon and doing physio sessions daily - VISITING ALLOWED: moved to a smaller isolation room with a facility for visits. (An adjacent area with a window for visitors to see her). For her safety she will remain in the isolation room until her discharge. No visitors are allowed inside the isolation area or make direct contact with her. Anyone that may have flu/cold symptoms MAY be refused entry by ward staff and will be requested to disinfect their hands upon entry and exit at the ward. As indicated last week there is currently an airborne ADENOvirus within the hospital (more critical for children and the elderly) - Visiting hours are 3-4 and 7-8 daily. We continue to be patient and seek the Mercy of the Creator. Another blessing are the Ajwa dates which we also gave to her. She has never needed any medication since 3months except aspirin to thin the blood, much to the doctors surprise. During all her ops she never had any bleeding. She never needed any extra assistance in theatre by way of oxygen or other medication because all the ops were without completion, and every surgeon said the same thing...The operation went as smooth and trouble-free as one could expect, she was an excellent patient and ther were absolutely no complications Yaa Salaam. After every op, her stitches were removed within a week. The scars and scabs healed within a week or two. Her drainage was always minimal and at times none existent. After every op she would wake up in ICU within 1-3 hours despite being very heavily sedated, and at all these occasions the sedation dosages were not strong enough to keep her under . Subhanallah.
