The past month since the sale of Eleven O One has been a bit of a whirlwind to say the least. I am now in various stages of talks and design process on four big projects and have been approached by a few other individuals and organisations interested in potential work. As usual these things rarely develop quickly but at least there is progression and interest. All of the sketch prints of Eleven O One sold very quickly and a number of people were asking about prints of Freddie Gilroy and the Belsen Stagglers so Ive done a run of them and they have been going well. We need to get them advertised down in Scarborough somehow though as that is obviously the most relevant area to the piece. I am nervous at the minute though as I am about to embark on a small project for my most awkward customer (my good lady wife). She wants one of the wall hanging angel pieces and has already given me instructions on how it should look. It might be easier to teach her how to weld and buy her some overalls actually. Last week I was given a kick up the backside by some upstanding member of society who decided to throw light on the shortcomings of the workshop security by getting onto the roof and breaking a couple of skylights. Fortunately they didnt get in but it was a tad unsettling and has spurred me on to uprate the alarm, install CCTV , replace all of the skylights and fasten security mesh to each one of them. I stopped short of electrifying the fence but was tempted. Total cost in the region of a decent 2nd hand van plus a couple of days work lost and looking at every shady youth to see if theyve got little feet. I say youth not through stereotyping but simple because I doubt many people over the age of 25 would be nimble and light enough to clamber onto the roof unaided. I say little feet because the CSI fella got some footprint samples from around the skylight and they were small. In this modern society I feel I need to point out that I am neither ageist nor footist just incase some small footed teenager decides to sue me for false accusation claiming that they cant sleep due to the post traumatic stress of it all.
