The past several days have been quite crazy. First--I found out one of my offshore mother shipping pics had been chosen for the cover of the new Outdoor Outer Banks mag, along with an article on mother shipping. Second-- I got a call from The Discovery Channel, who wants to license some of my pier and surf fishing for red drum video for an upcoming episode of Destination America. Third-- I got to spend the day testing out some new Wilderness Systems prototypes with the boats designer, the marketing manager and Ric Burnley of Kayak Angler Magazine. The weather blew up about 10 hours sooner then forecasted and we had a serious battle on our hands. The shoals fired up to near I am not doing this situation. A 3knot current and 15+ mph head wind lead to us doing half a knot through the shoals that were packing 6ft ground swells at times. The entire ocean was white capping. I couldnt see the tip of a 7ft rod on the boats 20ft behind me when some sets passed. It took 2 hours to round from the east side and go through the shoals. It took 7 mins to go back through them on the return :-O The boat designer was so impressed with the dynamics of the shoals that he has already told me that many more Wildy boats will be tested here ;-) Ill have a full review of the Thresher in the coming days-- right now I have a whole lot of drum footage to go through and get sent off.
