The past week has been a very busy one politically for Europe, just as the recent months in the run-up to Mays crunch election for a new Parliament and the creation of a new commission. Remember, for the first time in the history of the EU, the European Parliament elected - and not merely approved - the President of the European Commission, by secret ballot on July 15, 2014. On Friday, European Commission President-elect, Mr Jean-Claude Juncker sent the list of Commissioners-designate to Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi in his capacity as President of the Council of the European Union. This follows a series of interviews President-elect Juncker held with each of the candidates for Commissioner, over the past few days, and the proposal for appointment, on 30 August, of the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
