The patience of Malacañang is wearing thin after being pummeled by allegations of illegal use of funds under the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP). Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda accused the “enemies of reform” of resorting to “DOM” or “Deny, Obscure and Misdirect” tactics to muddle the issue and malign the administration. “They are muddling the issue. Their style is DOM – They deny, they obscure, they misdirect. That’s what they’re doing,” Lacierda said in Filipino during a Palace press briefing. “President Aquino is leading the reforms but he is now threatened with impeachment. Something is wrong with that,” he added. While promising to defend the legality of the DAP in court, Lacierda said the issue should be focused on holding accountable the persons who actually misused the people’s money. “The issue here is not so much: ‘what’s the name of DAP’ but the issue should be and always be focused on the people who stole public funds,” he added.
