The patients request shocked the seasoned doctor. A few years - TopicsExpress

The patients request shocked the seasoned doctor. A few years back, her husband had been in a tragic accident, disfiguring his face when he ran into a burning home to save his parents to no avail. He refused reconstructive surgery, wearing the wrinkled discolored skin as penance for his parents death. His wife didnt care about his looks. He had lived for which she praised God daily. One problem... He wouldnt live. Oh he breathed in and out. Ate enough for sustenance. But he stayed in his room, unable to be with others because of his appearance. She could not take it anymore and in desperation, sought out a renowned plastic surgeon with a final plea. Yet it wasnt for her husband. The wife asked the doctor if he would disfigure her face so she could be with her love instead of fixing him to join her. I read this story in a devotional in which Max Lucado suggested Jesus did the same for us. When God realized how much we needed a Savior, He disfigured His holiness in order to join us in a fallen world of fear and anxiety and mistrust. To walk among the fallen and broken and shattered. How often do we do this for each other? Were waking to a world hurtling toward the book of Revelations. We need more people willing to disfigure their faces and pull on each others skin in order to live in their world. Like Jesus did. We need more Jesus. I encourage you today to stop and pray for someone so unlike you that its hard for you to even find a name at first. Dont pray for them to be like you. Simply lift up their hurts and fears to the God of all of us. The God who became us. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:5-6 ~ Will you do me a favor? Will you share this message on your wall? Can we give this message legs and spread words of encouragement for one another? Thank you! ~
