The paving project will continue on Cherry Heights between West 6th and West 10th Streets during the week of August 18. On Monday, August 18, the four-block section of Cherry Hts will be partially closed from 6:00 am to about 5:00 pm. A contractor for City of The Dalles Public Works Department will profile grind off the old surface from the south side of West 10th to the south side of West 6th Street. Traffic will be flagged east/west across 10th Street. Paving on Tuesday, August 19, will require complete closure, including emergency vehicles, from 4:00 am to 7:00 pm, for the safety of workers and the public. On both days, the intersection of 6th and Cherry Heights will remain open. However, since the intersection of 10th and Cherry Heights is part of the paving project, it will be completely closed for paving on Tuesday, and partially closed on Monday with flaggers directing traffic. Access to Cherry Heights south of 10th Street during paving will be via West 13th Street, which will function as a two-way street on Tuesday only, diverting traffic around the project to Walnut Street. Since travel in and around this area will be very congested these two days, the City asks that motorists use alternate routes if possible.
