The peas experienced their first snow today. Didnt seem to bother - TopicsExpress

The peas experienced their first snow today. Didnt seem to bother them much, although they were more cooperative going to bed tonight. Dont know if its because of the cold or if they didnt want to repeat our little drama from last night. FYI even a clipped peacock can fly quite well- thank goodness I put netting over the top of the pen! The female turkey poult is still a thorn in my side. Her brother is growing bigger by the minute, and his calm demeanor and curious nature makes me want to name him, but Im not willing to change his life plan at the moment (we dont name our food). On the other hand I have her, a spastic chick that flails around the brooder, tearing off her bandages so she can continue to peck away at her feet. I dont know if its her behavior or gender that makes her growth so slow, but she is now only half the size of her brother. The turkeys were purchased as meat birds, but Im gonna be lucky if she makes it to nugget size. Sigh.
