The people of Aboh Mbaise-Ngor-Okpala and Owerri Federal Constituencies of Imo State have called on the immediate past Nigerian Minister of Interior, Capt. Emmanuel Ihenacho, to present himself for the 2015 governorship election in Imo State. This call was made recently during a sensitization and mobilization visit to the federal constituencies organised for the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) by the Captain Ihenacho Campaign Organisation (CICO). Speaking during the inauguration of co-ordinators of CICO at Group School Ezuhu Nguru play ground in Aboh Mbaise L.G.A. the state Publicity Secretary of APGA extolled Capt. Ihenacho for providing thousands of jobs to many youths from the state when he was a minister, a record he said that had not been beaten by any other Igbo man or woman. In his own remark at the occasion, a retired Deputy Comptroller General of Immigration (DCG) in the country who hails from Ahiara in Ahiazu Mbaise Chief Cajetan Nnamdi testified that he was able to be elevated to the position of DCG when he was in the Nigeria Immigration Services through the help of Capt Ihenacho as the then nations Minister of Interior and also remarked that the former minister rescued a lot of Igbos who were being marginalized in the nations immigration, Civil Defence, Prisons and Fire Service departments. In their addresses on behalf of the people of Ngor-Okpala L.G.A, the immediate past Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State, Chief Blyden Amajuronwu who is presently the Owerri Zonal Coordinator of CICO, the former Vice Chairman of the area Dr. Charles Obi Alaribe and Barr. Emma Eke all extolled the good virtues of the former minister and for the way the oil mogul was carrying the people of the L.G.A. along in the scheme of things. Addressing the people, the former minister condemned the deplorable nature of the Okpala-Aba Branch Road that transverses the three L.G.As. of Mbaise and some parts of Ngor-Okpala and remarked that it was an evidence that all was not well with the governance of Imo State. On why there are many governorship aspirants in Imo State presently, the former minister had this to say: Why many people are vying to become the governor of Imo State today is because governorship seems to be the easiest and safest way to riches. Money is always sent to the state from Abuja. Once voted in as a governor, the constitution gives the governor immunity which protects him from prosecution for embezzlement and crime. The person can now steal our resources any how knowing that he cannot be prosecuted while in office..Therefore, lack of employment and poverty which has bedevilled the people of Imo State is due to improper utilization of resources received from the federal government and corruption among our leaders. Therefore, people like us who have better vision cannot continue to be in our comfort zone while majority of our people suffer as a result of bad leadership. Posterity will not forgive us. On the present careless use of Late Sam Mbakwes name for political campaigns, the Emekuku-Owerri born international mariner, said that many politicians use the name of Mbakwe to deceive people. He remarked that Mbakwe is his role model especially in terms of industrialization and job creation. Anybody who claims to emulate Mbakwes style of government without industrialization and job creation is joking. Mbakwe built more than 35 factories and industries in four years which created thousands of jobs. I provided thousands of jobs for many Igbos within a year and half I was a minister and I also have a lot of industries where I employ a lot of Igbos. Therefore, it is not how long but how well. It is all about having the progress of your people at heart and knowing the right thing to do.. While advising all members of CICO to register with APGA, the former minister also stated that APGA would form a more responsive government that would reflect the true yearnings of the people in the state come 2015. The team also visited traditional rulers of Nguru Nwenkwo Autonomous Community Eze Damian Njoku and that of Obinze Eze Enyinnaya who all expressed their pleasure that a competent son of Owerri Senatorial Zone like Capt Ihenacho is nursing the ambition to vying for governorship of Imo State. The monarchs also gave their royal blessings to the former minister.
