The people of Polokwane on Monday, woke up to the fresh sounds of the city’s first community commercial radio station- Energy Fm. Months after receiving its broadcast license, Energy FM with the slogan, the pulse of the city, began broadcasting from its studios on Bicard Street in the City of Polokwane. Energy FM will broadcast 24 hours throughout the Capricorn District and will also cover main towns and areas surrounding them as well as stream online on the World Wide Web. Energy Fm broadcasts in English and 40% in vernacular, inclusive of the three dominant ethnic groups in the city (sePedi, tshiVenda, and xiTsonga). Radio Veterans Simphiwe Mdlalose and Ashiffashabba will be at the helm leading the Energy Fm Team of young people. The broadcasting format carries 65% music and 35% talk.
