The petroleum minister announced that he would order petrol pumps to be closed at night. They would remain closed from 8 pm to 8 am. His idea being that this will reduce petrol and diesel consumption, and we would progress towards less reliance on fuel imports. He dropped the idea within a day. It appears that he was asked to suggest to the food minister that food consumption should be banned from 8 pm to 8 am, so that we could become self sufficient in food. (From Dilip Rajwade)
