The photograph below was taken at Olympic Animal Sanctuary (OAS) - TopicsExpress

The photograph below was taken at Olympic Animal Sanctuary (OAS) in Forks, Washington a little over two years ago. The dog standing up against the kennel door is named Chance, and the dog to the right of Chance.....is our girl Rainbow. It sickens me to think that Rainbow spent over two years of her life existing in conditions that are beyond anything that we can imagine. Minimal food and water, limited fresh air, filthy kennel conditions, inadequate shelter, etc. As many of you know, Rainbow came from the shelter where I once volunteered. I can remember sitting in board meetings and hearing updates on Rainbow after she had already been sent to Olympic Animal Sanctuary. The updates indicated that Rainbow was thriving at OAS and that she was living in the house with the owner of Olympic Animal Sanctuary. Unfortunately we all know that these updates were far from the truth. Rainbow was not thriving and she was not living inside the house. The horrible reality was that Rainbow was being warehoused in a dilapidated metal building that was never meant to support any form of life....human or animal. Rainbow (along with all of the former OAS dogs) paid the ultimate price for being sent to the Olympic Animal Sanctuary. These poor dogs will never get back the time that they lost while having to exist at OAS. However, our village at Lionels Legacy is doing everything possible to repair the damage that was done to Rainbow, and our other former OAS dogs (Crockett and Willie). We are ensuring that they get the proper medical care that they went for so long without, and most importantly we are helping these dogs restore their trust in human beings once again. Repairing the physical damage has been far easier than trying to rebuild their confidence, and to calm their fears and anxieties that still haunt them to this day. As you can see in the other photographs of Rainbow she has come a long way since her days at OAS. Rainbow now gets to roll in the grass, and breath fresh air every day. Something every dog should be able to do....every day without question. And, to top things off....Rainbow is learning to trust people (men included) once again. Rainbow has taught all of so much about forgiveness and resilience....and we are so grateful that she is part of our village at Lionels Legacy. Weve put together a youcaring acct. to help continue their rehabilitation. If you can help contribute towards the care of Willie, Rainbow, and Crockett wed greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much for everyones continued support! youcaring/pet-expenses/help-these-3-on-their-road-to-recovery-and-2nd-chances-/183759 Rainbow.....you are simply amazing!
