The phrase I have no regrets to me, is perhaps the most immature - TopicsExpress

The phrase I have no regrets to me, is perhaps the most immature sentiment one can mutter. Perhaps people simply mean I cant change the past which is all fine and well. Spiritually this line is often muttered in a way that shows God as some minuscule and very slight powerful being. Often the line could go something like this Im glad I did what I did (even, and sometimes especially, if it was wrong) because if I didnt then God could not have provided for me what I now have. What an amazingly limited view of who our creator is? Instead of receiving grace for what it is, being humble and blessed that He has blessed us even when we dont deserve it, we throw our misdeeds and mistakes in His face as the answer for why things have truly worked out in life? Regret does not mean to continuously dwell on past actions, rather to be able to acknowledge them. To be forgiven and to have fully received that forgiveness can involve saying that wasnt my shining moment, while also not dwelling in guilt. Is limiting God to a only slightly powerful King, and stating that you dont see any issue with past wrongs really the great sign of maturity?
