The pic on a the left is the empty lot on which Gerald and I put a deposit in 2000 on a condo in a building that existed only on paper. Back then, South of Fifth was a neighborhood in flux. It was no longer the 1980s rundown stretch of Miami Beach that had been a hangout for crack addicts. But it was also not a real neighborhood, no sense of community, and with lots of empty parcels scattered about. Now, for better or worse, developers love it. The pic on the right is 17-story tower of glass that will be only 10 homes.
