The picture insert shows the kinds of delegates I expect to see in the majority at the ongoing National Conference. They are found in all works of life in Nigeria. They are professionals, technocrats, artisans, students, parents, and they make up the larger percentage of the Nigerian population. You want to know something else? They will most likely see the next 50 - 70 years of this countrys existence. The case where the overwhelming number of delegates to the National Conference are those who might not see beyond the next 30 years, who are even disjointed from present realities, is quite troubling. How can the ones meant to dream dreams become the ones to see visions? While we honour the role of experience, we need the role of visionaries who will map the coming decades for our great country. Holding such brainstorming sessions on very complex issues is a rigorous process that results in deep slumber for some delegates, thus making the final output quite suspect. I am deeply worried.
