The pig run goes viral in China Ladies, run for your life! Around 300 half-naked (mostly men) runners stormed the streets for this year’s “Pig Run” in Guiyang city, #China’s Guizhou province on Saturday. What makes the competition different is that traditionally the participants, aged from 6 to 65 years old, are only allowed to wear underwear. These days many just choose to go shirtless. The competition was first started in #Beijing by a group of #running enthusiasts during the 2012 winter. Donning only their underwear, the participants had to run 3.5km in subzero temperatures. The organizers said it was aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle and encouraging people to do more exercise and get closer to nature. Since then, the “Pig Run” has become a favorite among running hobbyists across China. This time, in Guiyang, competitors had to run 6km, and creative awards were given at the end, including “the most beautiful pig”, “the most creative pig” and “the fastest pig”.
