The player to watch today is Daley Blind, the hot defensive midfielder from AFC Ajax Amsterdam and Dutch international. Blind was tipped to follow Van Gaal knows to United after an impressive showing at the World Cup. The other transfer hopeful is Juventus midfielder, Arturo Vidal whose move Van Gaal did not press earlier because he was worried about his injury record. However, the panic has set in at OT and Ed Woodward & Van Gaal are keen to boost the defence and defensive midfield. Here is what we know about Blinds situation: According to Daily Star, former goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar is helping to broker the deal for Blind. Van der Sar, who is now part of Ajax’s management board, touched down at Uniteds Carrington training base yesterday to help oversee an £18million deal. However, as such deals usually go, Blind’s representative,Rob Jansen said that Manchester United had made no contact over a move for the versatile Netherlands international. Jansen played down reports of a deal being imminent and said: “At this moment Manchester United have not been in touch with me or Ajax about Daley and I’m not sitting here waiting for the call.” On the other hand, Ajax are open to selling the 24-year-old. Ajax’s technical director Marc Overmars told Dutch newspaper, De Telegraaf: “We want to keep Blind for another year, but if the offer is high, we’re happy to talk.
