The poem I read at my fathers service: Joseph Landreville 1950-2013 God’s finger touched him, and he slept A branch of our family tree has fallen away But he is in heaven soaring like an eagle Life’s challenges are not supposed to paralyze us They are supposed to help us discover who we are The bitterest tears shed over graves are for words left unsaid And deeds left undone Do not live in regret, for he is with us and he knows we love him He held our hands for just a little while But he’ll be in our hearts forever Any man can be a father But it takes a special man to be a Dad It is not flesh and blood, but the heart that makes us family One night a father overheard his son pray: Dear God, make me the kind of man my Daddy is. Later that night the father prayed: Dear God. Make me the kind of man my son wants me to be. It doesn’t matter who our father was, It matters who we remember he was The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother. And he loved her for 32years. Let us not say in grief “He is no more”, but live in thankfulness that he was. Jennifer Cervantez
