The polar reversal signs are very evident on Earth. Our weakening magnetic fields spell trouble for what is normal. People think that a magnetic reversal will be slow. I think not. Geologists measuring the magnetic changes in molten rock from previous pole flips say you could probably have seen your compass needle moving. That means an event that takes only a couple of days or hours. You notice how disturbed your mind becomes after flying East to West or West to East - worse flying East. You are not only crossing time zones but you are crossing magnetic lines of influence. Your sub-conscious mind registers these changes - you feel the change but you call it time. Experiencing a pole shift will probably be an equally special experience.
