The political class just dont seem to get it at all. Only €3 per week isnt the point. It is that it is yet another 3 per week on top of all the other €3 and €5 and €2 per week. You add up all those 2s 3s 4s and 5s and it comes to tens, fifties and hundreds per week. Money that should be used for basic needs like food and clothing, healthcare, travel, hygiene, even just getting away from the stress of life. But those things have to go to pay yet another €3 per week. When you live on a TDs wage you would find €3 per week between the seats of your Audi 8. But when you are scratching around to clothe your kids or go to the dentist or tax your car or buy a bin tag then yet another €3 per week means .... something else has to be cut. This is the reality they just dont get. The other issue they think we are too stupid to understand is that although it is €3 per week now, in ten years time it will be €30 per week, exactly the same way it has risen in every country that took this privatisation route.
