The politics of the ferries Ferry services are still - TopicsExpress

The politics of the ferries Ferry services are still unavailable to the general public despite millions of dalasi expended on behalf of Gambians by Jammeh. This is not only a national shame but it is an affront to common decency. Taiwan gave Jammeh four new engines for the ferries plus nearly a million and a half US dollars a few weeks before he broke off diplomatic relations. GPA promised us then that they will have all four ferries up and running in a very short time. Its been five months and still not a single ferry is operational as we write this note. How incompetent and ignorant can one be. Jammeh owe Gambians an explanation. He needs to go on national television and explain to Gambians what happened to the Taiwanese money and why his regime is unable to get the ferries in shape to safely transport humans and cargo. He must also explain to Gambians the Gallia Holdings of Greece partnership with Jammeh and his cronies, and why Mustapha Bojang is still being held in The Gambia against his will. Aljamdu and Kansala are moored in the Banjul ports since they were inaugurated a couple of years ago with great pomp and pageantry because they are of inappropriate design and one is at least 27 years old. Each is listed as costing US$4.35 million for a total sum of US$8.70 million. Jammeh has a lot of explaining to Gambians on television especially when the Greek company is threatening to sue Gambia to the tune of €40 million for breach of contract of the partnership. Gambians would rather have him explain these issues than to continue asking them for cash. Sidi Sanneh
