The polls are now closed and I am hopeful of a No vote. Thats great. But I have to say there is a part of me that almost wishes that it goes the other way. Then, and only then, would the Nationalists finally discover that with their dwindling oil revenues and a financial sector that makes the country more money, amongst many other factors, that they would be forced to admit that they were wrong. Big style. As for the English, many will seek retribution I fear. This whole sorry affair has done nothing for the harmony of the Union. Also, and I know I will be shot down for this, why would you allow a partially or ill informed electorate to make such a decision? We elect our politicians to do this. I mean, if I was the MD of a large company would I put a huge and strategic decision to a full and final democratic vote with the entire workforce? Course I bloody wouldnt, Id make the decision amongst the directors.
