The power of manifestation: 16 years ago I was diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder after a suicide attempt. After the diagnosis even amidst the frustration and grief, I had a vision of myself speaking to a large auditorium of teenagers, telling my story, and hopefully connecting with ANYONE that could benefit and ask for help if they were suffering. That vision and goal got buried under years of anger, shame, and guilt from my insecurity of living with a mental illness----but it never left me. Tomorrow I will be standing up in front of hundreds of teenagers at the Cherry Creek High School Suicide Prevention seminar after pursuing for the last 2 years speaking out about against the stigma of mental illness. It seems to be apparent that the goal I had so many years ago that I shyed away from out of fear was strong enough to propel me into this incredible and unbelievable life of advocacy. I am constantly grateful and in awe of the support and encouragement I have received from all of you---your words, your gestures, and your appreciation of the message. I have never been so grateful to have survived this disorder and be in a position to give back and give others hope through the dark days. THank you , friends!
