The power of our Obedience Formula. This dog did our boot camp 3 or 4 years ago. He did great but over the years hes slipped a bit with obedience and his owner wasnt getting the performance. He came back for a week refresher and very quickly got in great shape both on and off leash with his obedience but also with his manners. What was the secret? What we call our Obedience Formula. It states: - We always give a Free command; no motivation, luring, correction, etc. Simply say the command in a normal tone. - If the dog obeys we reinforce that decision with praise - If the dog disobeys we use reinforcement (leash, e-collar, etc.) to get the dog to obey. - Praise - Insist on permanence meaning, once youre down, keep downing. Once youre heeling, keep heeling, etc.
