The practice of providing Batman or Sewadar to officers of armed forces and police officers is total exploitation of junior rung officials. The colonial practice needs to be disbanded forth with. It is a wrong submission by officers that since they are working 24×7 such type of facility is required. The officers in many more services are working 24×7 and under greater stress & tension. I strongly disagree and say with strong conviction that this is shear misutilisation of man power. The services of large number of people engaged in house hold duties at the houses of officers( police and armed forces) can be utilised for some fruitful purposes. Polishing of shoes, buying of vegetables, accompanying ladies for shopping, dropping kids at schools, cooking food, serving liquor and many more such acts are being performed by uniformed personnel to please their bosses. During pre partition days such practice was prevalent as at that time officer was British and Batman an Indian but times have changed. Why now???? Down with colonial practices and should be discontinued immediately.
