The present humanitarian crisis and the rise & triumphs of what is called Isis ( really many groups In this militant Muslim (jihadist?) rebellion) are the direct results of the misdeeds of Prez George w Bush and the US militarys actions since 2003 on. Ironically the horrid late but not lamented dictator Hussein had protected some of the peoples now dying, on the run in the Mountains, or being saved by current US military targeted attacks (as in killing for a purpose in limited areas but killing nonetheless-lets hope they are killing the right people) and by the pro-American Kurdish forces in control of their own enclave hqd in Ebril. Everything is coming full circle and the USA -now in Iraq for the foreseeable future, for the misdeeds or mistakes of earlier American actions. Luckily Obama is not Dubya and the marines are unlikely to be sent into mess about again in Iraq. For that all lovers of peace should be thankful. Its the US-installed & maintained Malakis problem (or maybe Iraq would be better off divided into 3 states as the Kurds effectively have 1 already?) And the worlds problem (UN?, NATO?). Ditto Afghanistan & its problems, hopefully left to the Afghans to sort out.
