The president is using a new smokescreen. Minimum wage. Now understand, I support increasing the minimum wage - IF - it is done properly, not like what Congress usually does. Traditionally, Congress will make some jump, e.g., $6 to $8, all of a sudden. In my opinion that is the wrong way to do it. I believe a staged approach over the course of a year is a better approach. Why? A big jump all at once, results in an increase in price and a short term jump in unemployment. History tells us this. It takes some time for the marketplace and employers to catch up. A phased approach will allow time to absorb smaller jumps and recover. Just my thoughts.
