The press release many have been looking for, thank you for your help and concern! A call for a deceased horse in the Village of Maple Park, Illinois came into Kane County Animal Control the morning of January 7th. Kane County Animal Control personnel went to the property, where a deceased horse was found. There were 10 other horses on the property outside but otherwise who appeared to be in compliance with the law. Kane County Animal Control personnel left a notification for the owner of the property to contact the department as we begun an investigation. The owner complied with the notification and provided shelter for the remaining horses. The owner was cited with failure to provide sufficient quantity of wholesome food, water, adequate shelter and protection from the weather. The Illinois Department of Agriculture and the Kane County Sheriff’s office were notified of the investigation. A reminder to all pet owners: we are in the season of extreme weather conditions therefore we would like to remind you to be cautious with pets and domestic animals that are outside. We recommend that pets are not left outside for extended periods of time and that all pets have access to adequate food, water and shelter.
